YONEX All England 2024: Team Yonex Collecting titles and trophies - Gem Sports

BIRMINGHAM, England – The YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships 2024 came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday, March the 17th as the world’s best badminton players battled it out in the finals. With a sold-out stadium, and brand-new gray courts the energy could not have been higher.

Kicking off finals day, women’s doubles finalists Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee (KOR) came in strong against French Open 2024 semi-finalists Shida Chiharu and Nami Matsuyama (JPN). After claiming silver in the YONEX All England 2023, Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee were determined to push for gold in this year’s final. After three close games, where each pair fought for the lead, Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee ended up on top with a final score of 19-21, 21-11, 17-21 and their first All England title as a pair.

Following women’s doubles was women’s singles where Carolina Marin (ESP) faced last year’s All England champion Akane Yamaguchi (JPN). After a string of injuries from 2019 – 2022 Carolina came back winning silver in multiple super 1000 series events, but this All England marks her first super 1000 win since her serious injury. Proving why Carolina Marin is a legendary player, who can inspire the next generation.

Mixed doubles followed soon after in a match between world No.1 Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong (CHN) and Malaysia Open 2024 champions Arisa Higashino and Yuta Watanabe (JPN). The pairs battled for the title, but Zheng and Huang would not be dethroned, garnering them a fourth YONEX All England title. Final score, 21-16, 21-11.

To finish off the day, the men’s doubles final saw Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto (INA) take on 2023 Denmark Open champions Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Chia (MAS) in an energetic two game match. Determined to hold the All England title, Fajar and Rian came in hot with the new ASTROX 88 S&D racquets and made quick work of the match, claiming their second consecutive title. Final score, 21-16, 21-16.
